Jon Wood is the founder of Wood IP Law and Strategy in Chattanooga, providing a broad range of intellectual property services. Jon is also active in the startup and venture space serving as a mobility and legaltech industry expert, an IP advisor, as an LP in Assembly Ventures, and as an angel investor.

Jon is consistently ranked in the top 300 IP Strategists in the world by IAM Magazine. Having serviced 3 years as the Executive Director of Innovation at Bridgestone Americas, Jon has an understanding of the mobility innovation landscape and the role of intellectual property in business. Jon served as Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Bridgestone Americas for over 10 years, as Senior Counsel at Eastman Chemical Company and in private practice with Dinsmore and Workman Nydegger.

From 2019 to 2023 Jon served as the Director of the Waldron Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Business at his alma mater, Harding University, where he was also an Assistant Professor of Business Administration (Classes taught include: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Marketing Strategy, Business Ethics and Compensation Management). Jon has also taught Intellectual Property Strategy at Case-Western Reserve School of Law and Organic Chemistry at Birmingham- Southern College.

Jon is on the board of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, the parent of Camp Invention, serving more than 200,000 children in all 50 states. Jon is on the advisory board of several startups, including i50 and Treads, and has served as a mentor for several incubator and accelerator programs. Jon has a BS in chemistry from Harding University, an MS in organic chemistry from the University of Alabama, and a JD from the University of Arkansas. Jon is most thankful for his wife and 4 children.
